Postponed from the end of March 2020, when lockdown happened, the date for the weekend getaway to the New Forest was shifted to a time later in the year, when things were to be ‘more settled’ amid the corona crisis that has engulfed the world. With careful planning, and close consultation with government guidelines, we were in fact able to continue with the Escape between Friday the 25 th and Sunday the 27 th September.
Setting off from Twyford in Berkshire, in our socially restricted bubbles, we headed off towards the village of Brockenhurst in the heart of the New Forest, where our weary bodies would be very grateful for the warm welcome of the hotel staff. The Escape weekend is all about being spoilt, both on and off the bike, and that’s exactly what happened. The ladies were treated to a superb three days of routes (albeit a little windy) amazing food, a fully stocked support vehicle and a bag full of spoils, topped off with some much-needed chatting and laughing.
